GREELEY, Colo. – The University of Northern Colorado Women's Basketball program has officially announced the addition of 6'3" forward Ruthie Loomis-Goltl to its roster, Head Coach Kristen Mattio confirmed Wednesday. A native of Bridgeport, Nebraska, Loomis-Goltl brings high-level potential, size, and athleticism to the Bears' frontcourt.
Loomis-Goltl comes to UNC after spending time at both the University of Colorado and the University of South Dakota. She redshirted her first season with the Buffaloes and saw limited action with the Coyotes, but her talent has never been in question—she was a highly touted 4-star recruit coming out of high school and was heavily recruited by numerous Division I programs across the country.
Head Coach Kristen Mattio shared her excitement about the newest addition to the program:
"We are thrilled to have Ruthie join our program! Ruthie's size will add depth to our post position. She is athletic, can run the floor, and will bring a strong rebounding presence to the court for us! Ruthie will be great in our defensive system as well! I believe Ruthie's high character and maturity serves her well as she functions with excellence both athletically and academically. We look forward to reuniting Ruthie with her sister Olivia who was a freshman for us this past season here at UNC! I know fans will be eager to see the Loomis-Goltl sisters take the court together again as they were a force to be reckoned with in high school! Ruthie's mother, Claudia, is also a UNC alum and graduated with a degree in English. We can't wait to get Ruthie on the court!"
Before her collegiate career, Loomis-Goltl was a standout at Bridgeport High School, where she dominated the Nebraska prep scene and earned her 4-star status. Known for her athleticism, rebounding prowess, and defensive versatility, Ruthie helped elevate her high school team into one of the state's top programs.
With strong family ties to UNC and a hunger to make her mark at the collegiate level, Loomis-Goltl is poised for a fresh chapter in Greeley, where she'll don the Blue and Gold alongside her sister and former high school teammate, Olivia.
