Bears Continue Homestand Against NDSU

UNC and North Dakota State Meet in Week Two of League Play
GREELEY, Colo. – The second week of Summit League play pits Northern Colorado and North Dakota State at Jackson Field Friday-Sunday.
Both teams opened league play with a series win. UNC (7-13, 2-1 Summit) defeated South Dakota State in Greeley. North Dakota State (4-15, 2-1) took 2-of-3 from Oral Roberts on the Golden Eagles field.
UNC clinched the series against South Dakota State dramatically Sunday. Trailing 10-4 in the bottom of the ninth, the Bears walked off the Jackrabbits with seven runs in the final frame. UNC won the series opener behind another stellar performance on the mound by Murphy Gienger.
The Bison took the first two games of the series at Oral Roberts before falling short in the series finale, 9-6. Sunday, NDSU tallied 11 hits, with Sam Canton registering a 4-for-5 game, with one run, North Dakota State utilized six pitchers, with Austin Bergum saddled with the loss. He worked 1.1 innings out of the bullpen.
PEAK PERFORMERS
Northern Colorado earned the Summit League Kwik Star Peak Performers of the Week in three of the first five weeks of the season. Jake King claimed the first two player of the week honors, while Gienger took home pitcher of the week, after his performance against Utah Valley in the series opener. He fanned 14, matching the school record.
