Colombine in Eighth After 36 Holes

PHOENIX – Samantha Colombine fired a 1-under par and led Northern Colorado after day one of the GCU Invitational – hosted by Grand Canyon – on the GCU Golf Course (par 72/6,300 yards) Tuesday.
The freshman from Tabasco, Mexico, sank four consecutive birdies on her way to an opening round 71, before closing with a 72 on her second circuit of the day.
Calynne Rosholt of GCU paced the field with a 4-under 140, while UC Irvine's Katelyn Kong shot a 141. Colombine finished the day in eighth place, three shots back.
Timbre Shehee carded a 3-over par (75-72—147), tied with four others in 22nd. She inked seven birdies over the 36 holes Tuesday.
Jaci Hartman posted a 79-75—154, while Carolina Fallotico recorded a 77-79—156.
Kailey Bass rounded out the scoring for UNC with a 79-79—158.
Action resumes with a shotgun start at 8 a.m. Wednesday.
