Rillie Fuels Bears Rout

GREELEY, Colo. – Jaron Rillie eclipsed two milestones and propelled Northern Colorado to a 95-76 victory over Eastern Washington at Bank of Colorado Arena Thursday.
Rillie eclipsed 1,000 points and 450 assists in his collegiate career with a season-high 23 points, 10 rebounds and five assists. He knocked down 9-of-13 from the field, including 4-of-6 from 3-point range.
UNC (20-8, 12-2 Big Sky) registered its seventh 20-win season since the 2005-06 season when the Bears moved up to the NCAA Division I level. The Bears reached the 20-win mark in five campaigns under head coach Steve Smiley, the first since the team went 22-16 during the 2021-22 campaign.
They hit 64% (14-22) of their attempts from the floor in the opening 20 minutes, including 8-of-12 (67%) from behind the arc. Eastern Washington (10-17, 6-8 Big Sky) shot 36% (10-28) in the stanza, including 3-of-11 (27%) from distance.
In the second half, UNC continued the hot shooting and spread the cushion to 29 with 5:40 left, at 90-62. With the starters out of the contest, the Eagles ran off straight points and sliced the deficit to 95-76 with 75 seconds remaining.
Isaiah Hawthorne totaled 18 points and three assists, while Quinn Denker notched 12 points.
Langston Reynolds netted 11 points, six rebounds, three assists and a steal.
Brock Wisne totaled 10 points and three boards.
Zach Bloch and Marcell McCreary chipped in with nine points each. Bloch went 3-for-3 from 3-point range, the 14th game this season with at least two.
Taeshaud Jackson matched his season high with five rebounds and added three points.
The 66.7% shooting percentage ranks second this season for the Bears. They notched their 12th double-digit win, including six in Big Sky Conference play.
