17th Annual Women's Walk will honor Rosemary Fri, M.A. '61

Registration is now open for the 17th Annual UNC Women's Walk, set to take place on Saturday, April 5. This kid-friendly community event, which raises crucial funds for UNC Athletics women's sports, will recognize and pay special tribute to Rosemary Fri, '61, as our honorary chair.

About Rosemary
She was a true trailblazer for women's athletics and long-time supporter of UNC Athletics. Fri's journey with UNC began in 1959 when she arrived in Greeley to pursue her master's degree at what was then Colorado State College. Her roles while at UNC ranged from starting as a physical education instructor, to coordinator of Women's Athletics, to creating Women's Tennis and Volleyball programs and serving as the head coach for each sport. Her dedication to her players, passion for education and influence on collegiate women's athletics earned her a place in the inaugural class of the UNC Athletics Hall of Fame in 1994. Even after her retirement, Fri remained a steadfast supporter of UNC athletics, attending games and events, and continuing to inspire those around her. Event Details:
This is approximately a 1.5 mile walk that begins and ends inside Bank of Colorado Arena. The entirety of the walk follows sidewalk pathways around West Campus.

Location: Bank of Colorado Arena
Time:
- 8:00 a.m. – 9:00 a.m.: Registration, breakfast, and student-athlete led activity stations inside Bank of Colorado Arena
- 9:00 a.m.: Opening announcements and start of the walk
- 10:00 a.m.: Closing program and team awards

Pre-registration for children under 12 is complimentary.
Optional: Organize a walking team! Walk together for fun or get competitive with other walking teams by bringing the largest group, or having your team raise the most money. Team awards are given during the closing program. Email angelica.sena@unco.edu if you are interested in learning more or adding your team name to the registration page.
