GREELEY, Colo. — Northern Colorado safety Cam Chapa earned national recognition following a standout 2025 campaign, as he was named an FCS Football Central Second Team All-American, the organization announced Monday.
Chapa started 11 games at safety and delivered one of the most productive defensive seasons in the Big Sky Conference. He led the league in solo tackles (63) and finished the year with 88 total stops, adding 2.0 tackles for loss. His consistency was on full display throughout the season, highlighted by a season-high 11 tackles against Montana State and multiple double-digit tackle performances.
A reliable playmaker in the secondary, Chapa recorded four interceptions on the year, including a pick at Eastern Washington, and returned interceptions for 86 total yards. He also added eight passes defended and two forced fumbles, making an impact in both coverage and run support.
Chapa's season was decorated with conference honors as well, earning First Team All-Big Sky recognition and being named a Big Sky Defensive Player of the Week during the year.
With his four interceptions in 2025, he became just the second Bear in program history to post back-to-back four-interception seasons and finished the year tied for sixth all-time at UNC in career interceptions (8).
The FCS Football Central All-America honor marks another milestone in Chapa's career and caps a season that placed him among the top defensive performers in the nation.
