Bears Fall to Wildcats On The Road

GREELEY, Colo. – Northern Colorado women's basketball (5–2) continued its road swing with a trip to Tucson, Arizona, to face the undefeated Wildcats (5–0) at McKale Center. Fresh off winning the WellNow Blue Demon Classic at DePaul, the Bears battled with high energy and intensity but ultimately fell to Arizona, 84–58.
Northern Colorado opened the first quarter with crisp ball movement, creating clean looks from beyond the arc. Erin Powell capitalized early, hitting a pair of threes to give the Bears a 6–0 lead. Arizona responded, however, and closed the quarter ahead 16–13.
In the second period, the Wildcats extended their advantage by attacking the rim and scoring efficiently in the paint. The Bears countered with key stops and timely baskets to stay within reach, trailing by 12 at halftime. Powell led Northern Colorado in the first half with six points, while Tatum West contributed across the board with three points, four rebounds, an assist, and a block.
After the break, the Bears showed the Wildcats new looks offensively, using over-the-top passes from the wing to find Aniah Hall inside for high-percentage looks. The effort trimmed the deficit to 11, but Arizona regained control and pushed its lead to 17 entering the fourth quarter.
The Wildcats carried their momentum through the final frame, extending their lead and sealing the 84–58 victory.
Despite offensive challenges, Northern Colorado displayed toughness and determination throughout the full forty minutes. Neenah George led the Bears with 19 points on 8-of-15 shooting, adding three assists and two rebounds on the night.
