Bears Cruise To Victory Defeating Chadron State 114-47 at Home

GREELEY, Colo. – Northern Colorado women's basketball returned to Bank of Colorado Arena on Friday night and dominated from start to finish, rolling to an 114-47 non-conference victory over Chadron State.
The Bears opened the game with intensity, applying aggressive full-court pressure that immediately disrupted the Eagles' offense. Forced turnovers quickly turned into fast-break opportunities, and Northern Colorado converted them into efficient points at the rim. Controlling both the tempo and the tone of the game, the Bears surged ahead to a commanding 27-6 lead after the first quarter.
In the second frame, Northern Colorado continued to move the ball with purpose, swinging it around the perimeter to create open looks. Julia Riley benefited from the crisp ball movement, scoring 10 first-half points on 4-of-8 shooting. Heather Baymon also added 10 points, while Neenah George led all scorers at the break with 13. Defensively, Baymon set the tone with four steals, followed closely by Gabi Fields with three, helping the Bears enter halftime with a decisive 54-21 advantage.
After the break, the Bears picked up right where they left off—turning steals into easy baskets and forcing Chadron State into an early third-quarter timeout. Northern Colorado continued to showcase unselfish play, consistently finding open shooters and extending its lead to 71-30 by the media timeout. With timely three-pointers from Baymon, the Bears carried an 85-30 lead into the final quarter.
Northern Colorado maintained its execution in the fourth quarter, closing out the game with discipline on both ends of the floor. Tatum West recorded another double-double, and several Bears contributed across multiple statistical categories, highlighting the team's depth and balance.
Northern Colorado secured a dominant 114-47 win over the Eagles and adding another strong performance to its early-season resume.
The Bears wrapped up the game with an impressive shooting performance, going 49-for-87 from the field (56.3%) and recording 29 assists.
