UNC Finishes Runner-Up at Magnus Cup With Three Wins on Final Day

Northern Colorado now heads into the winter break and will return to competition in January.
CLEVELAND, Ohio – Northern Colorado closed out the Magnus Cup Invitational with a powerful final day, highlighted by three event victories, 17 top-10 finishes, and four more additions to the program's all-time top-10 list. The Bears finished second overall with 1,183 points, securing their highest team placement at the meet in program history.
The distance crew set the tone early as Kyra Rabess dominated the 1650 freestyle, winning in 16:42.20 to cap off a standout weekend. Emma On-The-Hill added a major scoring boost with a third-place finish in 17:05.67, a time that now ranks No. 9 in program history.
UNC shined again in the 100 IM, where Avi Tromp (56.58) and Maria Erokhina (56.94) finished second and third. Sprint fly continued to be a strong point for the Bears, with Ellyson Lombardi taking third in the 50 fly (24.69) and Martina Yuki Trionfetti finishing fourth (24.88).
The Bears showed depth in the backstroke as well. Ariane Bernier earned a fourth-place finish in the 200 back with a 2:01.30, moving to No. 8 all-time at UNC, while Linnea Haan placed eighth in 2:04.81.
The sprint freestyle group closed its weekend strong, led by Trionfetti's third-place finish in the 100 free (50.26). Mishler placed sixth with a 50.82, but her prelim time of 50.69 now ranks No. 4 in UNC history, and Simioni took eighth (51.05), matching the No. 8 spot all-time.
UNC claimed another event title in the 200 breaststroke, where Erokhina powered to the win in 2:13.27. Rachel Ley added a ninth-place finish in 2:21.57.
The Bears added a third victory in the 200 butterfly, as Lombardi touched first in 1:59.32. Hlaa Diab (7th, 2:05.23) and Agathi Manoli (8th, 2:05.50) also scored in the A final.
UNC closed swimming action with a strong showing in the 400 free relay, as the team of Mishler, Lombardi, Simioni, and Trionfetti placed second in 3:22.93. The B relay of Konter, Bernier, Tromp, and Rabess finished sixth in 3:26.99.
Diving
UNC's platform divers delivered an outstanding final day, placing three inside the top eight.
Addison Campbell led the way with a fifth-place finish (178.40).
Violet Noel followed in sixth (173.35).
Mireya Ruiz added an eighth-place finish (153.05), rounding out the Bears' strongest platform showing of the season.
