Bears Outlast Idaho State

GREELEY, Colo. – Langston Reynolds' layup with 13 seconds remaining in overtime lifted Northern Colorado (10-5, 2-0 Big Sky) to a 93-92 victory over Idaho State (6-7, 1-1 Big Sky) at Bank of Colorado Saturday.
The win secured the best start through 15 games since the Bears began the 2019-20 with a 10-5 mark.
Reynolds netted a game-high 27 points on 13 of 15 shooting, with a career-high eight assists, four rebounds and a steal.
In a game that featured 17 lead changes and 11 ties, UNC overcame a six-point deficit with 2:51 left in the extra period. Jaron Rillie and Reynolds converted back-to-back layups, slicing the margin to 88-86 at 2:12. After a Bengals' bucket Rillie laid in a fast-break opportunity and finished the 3-point play at the free-throw line after drawing a foul, with 94 ticks remaining.
Following a block by Isaiah Hawthorne, Rillie pushed the Bears ahead with 47 seconds remaining. Idaho State moved ahead 92-91 on its next trip down the floor, setting up Reynolds' game-winner.
Brock Wisne added 21 points, converting 10 of 13 from the field. Reynolds and Wisne became the first duo to register at least 20 points for the Bears in the same game this season.
Reynolds collected a rebound, raced the length of the court and put UNC up 38-36 at the half on a dunk that electrified the home crowd.
UNC overcame its largest deficit of the game at 63-56, with 9:46 remaining in regulation after an 8-0 run by the Bengals.
Trailing most of the second half, Zach Bloch's jumper with 46 seconds left moved the Bears ahead 77-76. Following a bucket by Idaho State, Bloch drew a foul and converted 1 of 2 at the free throw line at the five-second mark and forced the extra period.
Rillie tallied 15 points, eight assists and seven rebounds. Hawthorne finished with 12 points and six rebounds. He drained all eight of his free-throw attempts, netting 17 of 18 over the two-game homestand.
