Bears Announce Non-Conference Schedule
9/5/2024 3:18:00 PM | Men's Basketball
GREELEY, Colo. – A unique neutral site game against South Dakota State at The Monument in Rapid City, S.D., a highly anticipated Big Sky – Summit League Challenge game in Bank of Colorado Arena and a pair of matchups against Power Four schools highlight Northern Colorado's 2024-25 13-game non-conference basketball schedule.
"We're excited about our non-conference schedule," head coach Steve Smiley said. "We've done a great job of balancing the schedule out with as many home games as possible, including bringing three Division I opponents to Bank of Colorado Arena, which is hard to do, while also playing some extremely challenging road games to get us ready for a tough Big Sky schedule."
The Bears host six regular-season games at Bank of Colorado Arena, including the season opener against Colorado College Nov. 4, Colorado Christian Nov. 12, Prairie View A&M Nov. 23, Northern New Mexico Nov. 26, St. Thomas Dec. 4 and Air Force Dec. 16.
"Having six home games, six road games and a great neutral site contest against South Dakota State in Rapid City is about as good of a balance as we've ever had," Smiley said. "We can't wait to start it off in early November!"
UNC travels to Boulder for a clash with the Buffaloes Nov. 8, before meeting South Dakota State Nov. 14. The Bears travel to Pullman, Washington for a matchup with Washington State Nov. 18 and take on Cal Baptist in Riverside, California two days later.
They end the first month of the season at Texas Tech Nov. 29. UNC meets North Dakota State in Fargo, N.D., Dec. 7 in the Big Sky-Summit League Challenge. The Bears close out the non-conference slate at Denver Dec. 21.
In Big Sky action, the Bears face each of the nine teams twice, beginning Jan. 2 at home against Weber State. They close the regular season against the Wildcats in Ogden, Utah, March 3.
The Big Sky Conference Championship runs March 8-12 at the Idaho Central Arena in Boise, Idaho.
