MISSOULA, Mont. – Gabi Placide led four members of Northern Colorado with double-digit kills, as UNC lifted the lid on Big Sky play with a 3-1 (25-22, 19-25, 25-22, 25-20) victory over Montana at Dahlberg Arena Thursday.

Placide totaled 15 kills on 31 swings with three errors, hitting .387, with five digs, a block and an ace.

The teams went to intermission tied at 1-1, with UNC grabbing the early advantage.

Maddie Davies and Brynn Reines tallied 13 kills each, while Isabel Bennett netted 10.

After seven draws and five lead changes over the first two games, UNC never trailed in set three. The Bears hit a match-high .395 in game four, with 21 kills.

Series and Team Notes

UNC moved to 27-9 in the all-time series.
The Bears improved to 10-4, including 1-0 in Big Sky Conference play.
UNC remained undefeated in five true road contests.

Individual Notes

Brynn Reines netted 13 kills, nine digs, two blocks and one ace.
Syd Cole handed out 44 assists to five different Bears, with eight digs, three kills, one ace and one assist.
G A McCarter tallied nine digs and one assist.
Isabel Bennett inked 10 kills and five blocks.
Maddie Davies totaled 13 kills, three blocks and a dig.
Annett Baker dropped in six kills, with three blocks and three digs.
Sam Steele paced UNC with 15 digs and chipped in with five assists.
Gabi Placide added 15 kills, five digs and a block.
Bella LePore accounted for eight digs and two assists.
