GREELEY, Colo. – Gabi Placide set a career-high 17 kills and Syd Cole tallied a double-double but Northern Colorado dropped a hard-fought five-set (12-25, 28-26, 25-22, 17-25, 12-25) match against Idaho State at Bank of Colorado Arena Saturday.

Placide added nine digs one ace and one block. Syd Cole accounted for 52 assists, 10 digs, five kills and one ace.

Maddie Davies tallied 14 kills, five digs, two aces and two blocks, while Brynn Reines inked 10 kills, four digs and one block.

Sam Steele netted 12 digs and one ace.

UNC converted 7 of 25 swings in the first set, with five errors and fell behind 1-0, while Idaho State hit .419.

The Bears outlasted the Bengals in games two and three, with a combined 15 ties and four lead changes, moving in front 2-1.

Idaho State led wire-to-wire in game four and forced a fifth-and-decisive set. Knotted at 10-10, the Bengals closed the match with a 5-2 burst.
