Shehee Leads Bears at Powercat Invitational

MANHATTAN, Kan. — Timbre Shehee tied for 13th at the Powercat Invitational – hosted by Kansas State, which concluded Tuesday at the Colbert Hills Golf Course (par 72/6,439 yards).
Shehee carded a 6-over-par 222, tying for 13 among the 84 individual participants, while Northern Colorado posted a 935 (311-319-305), placing 10th in the 16-team field.
The Bears ended the 54-hole event two shots ahead of Dayton and nine strokes in front of 12th-place North Dakota.
Shehee handed in her second scorecard of the event at or below even par Tuesday, vaulting six positions up the leaderboard over the final trip around the course. The junior from Mead, Colorado, registered three birdies during her final round, inking a two on hole No. 5 and finishing with nine birdies for the week.
Samantha Columbine tallied a pair of birdies during a final-round 75 that moved the newcomer from Tabasco, Mexico up nine spots and into a three-way tie for 56th. She opened the tournament with an 80-84—164 Monday.
Shae Maiorana completed the event one shot behind her teammate in a four-way tie for 59th at 240 (80-77-83).
Kailey Bass and Jaci Hartman comprised two-thirds of a tie for 64th, with a 242. Bass gained six places with a 76 in the final round, after an 80-86 Monday. Hartman recorded a back-to-back 79s Monday, before firing an 84 Tuesday.
UNC returns to competition Sept. 23-25 for the Golfweek Red Sky Classic in Vail, Colorado, on the course at Red Sky Golf Club.
