Bears hosted Arizona to Close Camp

GREELEY, Colo. – Northern Colorado closed its 2024 training camp with a 3-1 setback against Arizona at Bank of Colorado Arena Saturday.
UNC outscored the Wildcats 21-9 to turn a 10-4 deficit into a six-point triumph in the opening set. Following a timeout, the Bears rattled off nine of the next 12 points, pulling even at 13-all. They pushed their margin out to six and forced Arizona to use its second stoppage of the set at 21-15. The teams swapped the final seven points and the Bears snagged a 1-0 advantage.
Over the next three games, the teams traded the lead four times and netted 14 ties.
Arizona opened a cushion in the middle stage of set two and evened the match at the break. The Wildcats held a 12-7 advantage and secured the 25-20 victory.
Following the intermission, neither side held a four-point gap until Arizona pulled in front 24-19. UNC registered a kill before a successful attack by the Wildcats nudged them in front 2-1.
Arizona tallied five-straight points in game four to move in front 14-9. The Bears closed the margin to within one at 22-21 before three points in succession iced the game and closed the contest.
UNC opens the regular season at home against Michigan State at Bank of Colorado Arena Aug. 30. The Bears return to action the next night when they host nationally ranked Florida, which garnered 870 votes in the American Volleyball Coaches Association preseason poll. The Gators open the campaign ranked 11th in the country. The first serve for both matches is set for 6 p.m.
