Smiley adds another Colorado Prep Star
GREELEY, Colo. – Walker Asp committed to play for Northern Colorado, head coach Steve Smiley announced Wednesday.
Asp a 6'6" wing from Colorado Springs, Colorado, played an integral part in Palmer High School advancing to the Colorado High School Activities Association 5A Sweet 16 in his junior and senior campaigns.
"We are excited to get the commitment of Walker Asp to join the Bears as a freshman this upcoming fall," Smiley said. Walker is regarded as one of the top players in Colorado, but what is most exciting about Walker is his tremendous upside as a prospect." Walker has great positional size as a big wing, he is an explosive athlete with a great skill set, and he's focused on continually building his body at the collegiate level. We can't wait for Walker to get on campus and get to work!"
In his senior season, Asp led the Terrors in scoring 14.0 ppg and rebounding 5.4 rpg, averaging 1.7 steals and almost one block per game. After his junior year, Asp earned an All-Colorado Springs Metro League Second Team Selection. He elevated his game during his final campaign, capturing All-Colorado Springs Metro League First Team and Colorado All-State 5A Honorable Mention accolades.
What Others say about Walker:
"Walker is only starting to touch the surface of the player he is going to be. We believe UNC is getting a diamond in the rough! Walker has been a great teammate and leader for our program since he joined and I'm confident that he is going to do the same for Northern Colorado." - Eric Trujillo, Palmer High School Head Basketball Coach.
"Walker just works and continues to raise his ceiling! He's a great kid, from a great family and a skillful player with a very bright future." – Paul Grier, Miners Club Coach
