Three Earn All-Summit League Honors

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – Kai Wagner, Garrett Fisher and Murphy Gienger earned All-Summit League Honorable Mention honors as selected by the six head coaches and announced by league staff Tuesday.
Wagner collected the accolade at third base, after leading the league in batting average (.360), while ranking third with a 1.048 on base + slugging (OPS), fourth in slugging percentage (.620), sixth in home runs (9) and eight in runs-batted-in (38) and on-base percentage (.428).
Fisher earned the selection at designated hitter, leading the league with a .461 on-base percentage, while posting the fifth-highest OPS (.988), eighth in batting average (.328) and 10th in slugging percentage (.527).
Gienger secured a spot on the team as a relief pitcher, posting a 4.66 ERA, the fourth lowest in the league while tossing the seventh most innings (65.2). His five wins and 19 strikeouts looking ranked fifth among the qualifying pitchers. Gienger allowed 34 earned runs, the third fewest in the league while surrendering the fourth-fewest triples (2), sixth-lowest doubles (13) and 10 home runs, placing him ninth.
The Bears open Summit League Tournament play Wednesday at 11 a.m. at J. L. Johnson Filed in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Oral Roberts hosts the tournament May 22-25.
