GREELEY, Colo. – Erin Caviness and Murphy Gienger collected MyGreeley.Com Student-Athletes of the Week honors for their performances during the week of April 22-28.
Caviness won both games she tossed against Portland State, helping the Bears to their first-ever Big Sky Conference regular-season championship.
She improved to 15-7 in the circle this season, tossing her 17th-complete game this season, with eight shutouts, including the series finale against the Vikings. She allowed no walks and scattered four hits while punching out seven.
Gienger improved to 4-2 on the campaign, with a win over St. Thomas in the first game of Saturday's twin bill.
In his first start of the season, Gienger allowed one run, scattering six hits and five walks while striking out four in seven innings of work. The senior from Castle Rock, Colorado, started on the bump for just the fifth time in 37 career appearances.
