Austin Bunn Named Peak Performer of the Week

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – Austin Bunn earned the first TicketSmarter Summit League Baseball Peak Performer of the Week honor of his career, league officials announced Monday.
"Austin forced his way back into the lineup after a tough start to the season," head coach Mike Anderson said. "He was locked in and had quality at-bats all weekend."
The senior from Kuna, Idaho, collected the accolade after helping the Bears to a series sweep of South Dakota State on the road last week.
In the three-game series, he recorded 10 hits in 15 at-bats, including six extra-base hits, with eight runs scored and 13 driven in.
He slashed an impressive .667/.706/1.467 over the three games.
Bunn opened the series with four hits in four at-bats, including his first two home runs of the season, with a base-on-balls. He tallied three runs scored and a career-high six runs.
In game one of Friday's doubleheader, he blasted another longball and worked a walk in six plate appearances, scoring twice and driving in four. He tallied a 5-for-6 performance in the nightcap, including three doubles, scoring three times and adding three RBIs.

Bunn and the Bears wrap up their four-game road trip Wednesday in Colorado Springs, Colorado. They take on the Air Force Academy at 3 p.m., in the first of four midweek contests between the two squads this season.
