TUCSON, Ariz. – Northern Colorado's seventh-inning rally fell just short in a 6-5 setback to Lipscomb late afternoon on Saturday.
The Bisons opened an early 3-1 third-inning advantage.
Alison Steinker came through for the Bears in the third and fourth innings. Steinker delivered an RBI single to left field in the third inning to cut the deficit to within one at 3-2.
Steinker came up big again, this time in the fourth inning, and added an RBI on a fielder's choice. Nya Chacon put the Bears momentarily in front with an RBI single to center field.
LU added two runs in the fifth inning and one run in the seventh inning.
Grace Algrim was credited with the loss (0-1). Algrim entered in relief and tossed 2.0 innings, allowing 3 hits, 2, runs (both earned), and one strikeout.
Isabelle DiNapoli started and was credited with the no-decision. DiNapoli threw 3.0 innings, scattered four hits, and allowed 3 earned runs to go with a pair of strikeouts.
