GREELEY, Colo. – Steven Ramirez, a standout perimeter threat from Texas joined the 2025 men's basketball recruiting class, head coach Steve Smiley announced Wednesday.
Ramirez a 6'4" guard/wing from Fort Worth, Texas committed to play for the University of Northern Colorado. Ramirez preps at 6A Keller High School, a suburb of Fort Worth, Texas with a combined 55-17 record over the last two seasons. Ramirez is ranked among the top 50 Texas players in his class, per 247Sports.
"Getting Steven to commit to the Bears was a big piece of our fall recruiting efforts, as Steven checks all of the boxes in what we were looking for in this position. We were hoping to find a young guard who can play multiple positions with size, athleticism, and the ability to shoot it, and Steven checks all of those boxes. An elite shooter, an elite finisher and athlete, and a player who is extremely detailed in his approach on and off the court, Steven should be a great addition to our program. Steven has proven himself in one of the top high school basketball locations in the country in the DFW, TX area at Keller HS, and also on one of the best AAU circuits in the country, playing for Texas Impact in the UAA Under Armour circuit. We are thrilled that Steven has decided to become a Bear!"
Ramirez broke two school records his junior season by making 87 threes in a season and the single-game field goal percentage record, shooting 12/13 from the field in a single game. Last season as a junior he averaged 19.7 ppg, 6.9 rpg, 2.0 apg, 1.7 spg, while shooting 44% from three and 75% from the free-throw line. In two seasons of varsity basketball, he has accumulated over 1,000 career points. Among his many accolades, last season he was named 4A-6A Offensive District Player of the Year and TABC All-Region. In his sophomore season, he was named 4A-6A District Defensive Player of the Year. Ramirez has also excelled in the classroom being named Academic All-District and NHSCA Academic All-American.
