GREELEY, Colo. – Isaiah Hawthorne dropped a career-high 24 points and helped Northern Colorado to a 113-56 victory over Colorado Christian at Bank of Colorado Arena Tuesday.
The Bears (2-1) jumped out to a 23-2 advantage on their way to a 63-25 advantage at the half. They knocked down 75% (24-32) in the opening 20 minutes, including 13 of 19 (68.4%) from 3-point range. UNC held the Cougars (0-2) to 36.8% (21-57) in the game, including 6 of 18 (33.3%) behind the arc.
Hawthorne knocked down 9 of 11 field-goal attempts, with 5 of 6 from deep, matching a career-high with five 3-pointers.
Zach Bloch tallied a career-high 18 points on 6 of 10 shooting, all from 3-point range. Luca Colceag dropped in 16, while Langston Reynolds and Marcell McCreary netted 15 points each.
The Bears continued to cruise by knocking down half of their 3-point attempts in the second half and outscoring Colorado Christian 50-31 over the final stanza.
Radek Homer made his collegiate debut and registered his first career assists, points and rebounds.
UNC led in every statistical category, including points off turnovers (14-11), points in the paint (44-26), second chance points (17-9), fast break points (17-7) and bench points (45-31).
