UNC Opened Season at Front Range Invite

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – Northern Colorado lifted the lid on the 2024-25 campaign with 10 top-five finishes hosted by Air Force at the Front Range Invite.
"We have a young squad this year and we learned a lot about stepping up to competition and coming together to race as a team last weekend," head coach Lisa Ebeling said. "I'm excited to watch our women grow throughout the year and improve as we gain more experience."
Ellyson Lombardi won the 100-yard butterfly with a time of 56.95 and placed fourth in the 200-yard butterfly at 2:07.37.
Kyra Rabess collected a pair of podium finishes. She stopped the clock second in the 1650-yard freestyle, with a time of 17:40.94, and her 5:08.09 in the 500-yard freestyle earned her a bronze medal.
Maria Erokhina earned two spots on the podium with a second in the 200-yard breaststroke (2:22.18) and a third in the 100-yard breaststroke (1:05.15).
Payten Irwin netted a silver in the 200-yard butterfly (2:07.01) and narrowly missed the podium in the 100-yard butterfly, with a time of 58.15.
Martina Yuki Trionfetti touched the wall in fifth in the 100-yard backstroke (58.81), while Madison Berg tallied the fifth-most points in the 1-meter springboard (243.55).

The Bears return to the pool Friday, Oct. 11 at Washington State in Pullman, Washington, before wrapping up the weekend in Moscow, Idaho at Idaho Saturday.
