Cole Named BSC Offensive Player of the Week

FARMINGTON, Utah – Syd Cole earned Big Sky Conference Offensive Player of the Week honors, league officials announced Monday.
Cole, a graduate student setter from Parker, Colorado, quarterbacked the Bears to a pair of home sweeps over Montana State and Montana, keeping UNC at the top of the league standings.
"We had a great weekend offensively and that was largely attributed to Syd's setting," head coach Lyndsey Oates said. "She is very aware of what the other side is doing and setting the right hitter at the right time. Her experience carries us at times."
She averaged 11.83 assists per game, totaling 71 over the six sets. Cole ranks first in the Big Sky Conference in assists per set at 10.13 and 800 total assists. Nationally, those place her 43rd and seventh, respectively. She added two aces at the service line.
Cole sits 105 assists shy of 4,000 in her career, the fourth in UNC's NCAA Division I era and the eighth Bear in program history to reach the milestone.
