Erokhina Excels on European Stage

MSIDA, Malta – UNC freshman swimmer Maria Erokhina won four medals for her native country, Cyprus, at the 2023 Games of the Small States of Europe, hosted by Malta, May 29-June 3.
Erokhina claimed two gold medals, winning the 200 breast and helping her 4x100 medley relay team to a first-place finish. She also claimed two silver medals in the 100 breast and 50 breast.
Additionally, she set three Cyprus national records in the process, with her times of 2:30.62 in the 100 breast, 1:10.59 in the 50 breast, and 4:15.98 in the 4x100 medley relay.
With her tremendous performance, she qualified for the World University Games which will take place later this summer in Chengdu, China, from July 28-Aug. 8.
The Games of the Small States of Europe is organized by the members of the European Olympic Committees, and include: Andorra, Cyprus, Iceland, Liechtenstein, Luxembourg, Malta, Monaco, Montenegro and San Marino.
