Bears Shine at Jack Christensen Invite

FORT COLLINS, Colo. -- The Northern Colorado track and field team had a strong showing to start off the outdoor season at the Jack Christensen Invitational at Colorado State on Saturday.
"The Bears had some big PRs for the weekend in Fort Collins," assistant coach Stormie Sickler said. "We took full advantage of the beautiful day Saturday and came away with some top tier finishes across all events. Overall we are thrilled about the progress and momentum starting to push forward! It was a great meet to get some positive marks as we head into our home meet next weekend where we expect even better performances!"

The personal bests were highlighted by Kiana Van Haaren had a four-inch personal best mark in the long jump to go 5.70m which currently puts her at number two in the Big Sky Conference. Samantha Rogers had over a meter personal best in the javelin, throwing 39.74m, which ranks her seventh in the conference.
Chole Rylance and Shantell Hafner both ran respectable times in the 1500m to go 4:34.38 converted and 4:40.36 with ranks them eighth and 16th in the conference, along with teammate Zach Wells who ran 3:53.50 converted in the 1500m which ties him for 10th. Jameson Rembert had three personal bests out of his four events, in the 100m 110m hurdles and the long jump.
Both Anders Buettenback and Alexa Oatman put up respectable vaults in the pole vault in their first outdoor competition of the season.
