Northern Colorado Rolls Past Hastings College in Season Opener

GREELEY, Colo. – The University of Northern Colorado opened the 2023-24 campaign with a decisive 86-56 win over Hastings College.
The Bears took control in the first quarter and never looked back and led 22-15 after 10 minutes of play. UNC continued its dominance in the second quarter, outscoring HC 17-12, and went into halftime with a 39-27 advantage.
Behind a 71.4 percent shooting percentage in the third quarter, UNC continued its offensive pressure with a 27-16 scoring advantage.
Delaynie Byrne and Hannah Simental were in mid-season form, Byrne scored a game-high 22 points on 8-for-13 shooting from the field. Simental, a Preseason Big Sky Conference selection, added 17 points and was 5-for-7 from beyond the arc.
