Bears return home to host Montana State

GREELEY, Colo. -- The Northern Colorado men's basketball team returns home to host Montana State on Thursday, Jan. 5, at the Bank of Colorado Arena. Tip-off against the Bobcats is set for 6 p.m. (MT). Tickets are still available for purchase.
• Northern Colorado holds a 16-15 record over Montana State in the program's Division I era.
• The last time the two teams played was for in the final of the 2022 Big Sky Tournament in Boise, Idaho. Montana State ended up defeating the Bears 87-66.
• UNC enters Thursday's contest looking to snap a four-game skid, having lost three of the four on the road, however.
• Through 14 games this season Dalton Knecht leads the Big Sky in scoring, averaging 18.9 points per game. Second place in league scoring belongs to Idaho's Isaac Jones (18.6 ppg)
• The Bears suffered a three-game losing streak in November, before turning around to win four of five, including an 88-83 win over neighboring Colorado State on Dec. 3.
• Last weekend, UNC dropped a pair of games on the road to open Big Sky play; losing at Weber State, 81-72, and in overtime at Idaho State, 90-83.
• Despite the loss at Weber State, UNC faced a 22-point deficit midway through the second half and battled back to cut Weber State's lead to just five with just over two minutes left in the game
• In the second half at Idaho State, UNC gave up seven turnovers and faced a 12-point deficit midway through the half, but battled back to force OT against the Bengals.
