CLEMSON, S.C. -- Northern Colorado capped off competition on the final day of the Clemson Invite, racing in five events, highlighted by a second-place finish by Regina Mpigachai in the women's 800-meter run, and a fourth-place finish by Jesse Hayward in the men's 800m.
Mpigachai's time of 2:07.22 in the 800m ranks eighth fastest in the NCAA so far this season.
After the strong results at Clemson, Northern Colorado now owns seven of the fastest times in the Big Sky. On the men's side UNC holds the fastest conference times in the 400m (August van de Weijer), mile (Zachery Wells), 60m hurdles (Jerome Campbell), and 4x400. On the women's side, UND holds the fastest Big Sky times in the 400m (Wendira Moss), 800m (Mpigachai), and mile (Mpigachai).
ACCORDING TO COACH ANGEL
"I was very pleased with the momentum that we carried over from yesterday. Today was another outstanding day for Northern Colorado. Regina was spectacular as always. She ran one of the fastest times in UNC history, her time ranks in the top-10 in the NCAA. Jesse is finally coming into form with a season best in the 800 meter. Wendira, Jerome and Zach continued to shine today with noteworth performances."
"This weekend resulted in Northern Colorado now leading in seven events in the Big Sky. Overall both squads, in Clemson and Boulder, improved as a team; but we still have a lot of work to do. I am very confident that we are moving in the right direction."

Both the men's and women's track and field teams are back in action next weekend, Jan. 20-21, heading to the University of Idaho for the Lauren McCluskey Memorial Open.
