Kubo launches 4th HR, Bears unable to find win in series finale

GREELEY, Colo. – Shaydon Kubo gave the Bears the early lead on Sunday but a handful of crooked numbers from North Dakota State put the game out reach, 15-1.
After Dylan Day put down the Bison in the top of the first inning, sophomore Shaydon Kubo had nothing but bad intentions when he walked to the plate in the bottom half of the frame.
On a 2-0 count, the Hawaiian put everything he had in the best pitch he saw, launching his fourth home run of the season over the left-field wall.
Three runs in the third, five in the fourth, sixth in the fifth and another in the sixth from NDSU effectively put the game out of reach.
While Sam Colehower pitched 2.0 solid innings of work, giving up just one run on two hits while striking out five, the Northern Colorado offense needed to put together a big rally to force an eighth and ninth inning.
Cameron Cromer singled through the right side to begin the seventh but the Bears weren't able to plate a run, ending the final game of the series, 15-1.
Game Notes
Northern Colorado will travel to Kansas State for two more mid-week contests before taking the weekend off before jumping back into Summit League play. First pitch on Tuesday in Manhattan is set for 5 p.m. MT.
