Opening Tip
UNC's beast in the paint Kurstyn Harden notched her latest double-double, piling up eight now on the season. Every time the Lufkin, Texas native has racked up double-digit rebounds, she's accompanied them with double-digit point totals.
Since Big Sky play began there have been few better shooting the three than Hannah Simental. In fact, there's only one. With a 44.6 percentage from deep, Simental is No. 2 in the conference and No. 29 in the nation.
Not only do the Bears shoot the three well, they guard the perimeter with equal effort. Allowing just 27.2 percent, UNC is best in the Big Sky.
Northern Colorado has been one of the best teams in cleaning the glass in 2021-22. With a +4.1 rebound margin, the Bears are the third-best rebounding team in the conference and No. 80 in the country.
Last Time Out
Kurstyn Harden recorded her eighth double-double of the season and Allie Downing and Hannah Simental each reached double figures but the Bears couldn't overcome a late fourth-quarter deficit, falling to the Vandals, 62-56.
Scouting the Vandals
Jon Newlee has his team rounding into form here at the end of February. Idaho has won four of its last five, including three in a row with two wins over Montana and most recently defeating Sacramento State.
The Vandals have been the fourth-best offense in the Big Sky since conference play began, led by Beyonce Bea who averages a second-best 18.4 points per contest. Bea is also the reigning Big Sky player of the week.
Bea has been flanked by Sydney Gandy and Tiana Johnson who both rank in the top-10 in three-pointers per game. Johnson ranks second in three-point percentage at 39.9, which is also good enough for No. 48 in the nation.
History against Idaho
Northern Colorado is 8-6 all-time against Vandals with a 3-2 record in Moscow. UNC hasn't been to Idaho since February of 2020 with both of last season's contests scheduled in Greeley.
The Bears will be looking to avenge an earlier loss this season back in January. The lead changed six times in that contest before the Vandals squeaked out the victory.
What's Ahead?
Northern Colorado returns to Greeley for its final homestand of the season, beginning with Montana on Wednesday, March 2. Tickets can be purchased at UNCBears.com/Tickets.
