Opportunity Awaits Men's Basketball Saturday

UNC men's basketball travels to Weber State Saturday
GREELEY, Colo. – Northern Colorado men's basketball has a chance to move up the Big Sky standings on Saturday night. The Bears head to Ogden, Utah to take on Weber State at 6 pm.
Opening Tip
- Northern Colorado was unable to overcome an off shooting night going 38.5% from the field in a 61-58 loss to Idaho State.
- Daylen Kountz was named the Big Sky Player of the Week after averaging 28.5 points, 6.5 rebounds and 4.0 assists against Southern Utah and Sacramento State.
- Kountz continues to lead the Big Sky in scoring averaging 21.0 points per game and ranking ninth in the nation. In Big Sky play he is averaging 22.9 ppg.
- Matt Johnson II scored a game-high 13 points against Idaho State. Eleven of those 13 points game in the second half.
-Kur Jongkuch stuffed the stat sheet on Thursday night with eight points. seven rebounds, three assists. a steal and career-high four blocks.
- Dru Kuxhausen got back to his three-point making ways going 4-for-7 from the field for 12 points. He is second in the Big Sky for three's per game (3.15) and three-point field goal percentage (44.3%). That ranks him in the top 20 nationally as well.
- The Bears are averaging 77.8 points per game to rank second in the Big Sky and 36th in the nation.
- Northern Colorado leads the Big Sky in both field goal percentage (47.7%) and three-point field goal shooting (38.4%). They rank in the top 30 in both categories in the nation.
Scouting the Wildcats
Weber State snapped a three-game losing streak on Thursday with a 65-50 win at home over Sacramento State.
The Wildcats have a talented group of players with four averaging double-figures scoring. Koby McEwen leads the way with 17.6 points per game. Freshman Dillon Jones continues to average a double-double with 12.6 points and 10.7 rebounds a contest.
WSU won the first game between the two teams in Greeley 85-76 at the end of January with a big second half.
Around the Big Sky
It was a night of upsets in the Big Sky. League-leader Montana State saw its 11-game win streak snapped in overtime at Eastern Washington, while Idaho had a comeback win over Montana at home. Weber State held off Sacramento State late as well.
Saturday features a pair of big games with UNC visiting Weber State and MSU traveling to Southern Utah.
What's Ahead
Northern Colorado returns home for their final three home games of the 2021-22 season. It all starts on Monday when Idaho State visits Bank of Colorado Arena.
