Wrestling prepares for a weekend in the Dakotas

UNC wrestling takes on North Dakota State and South Dakota State Friday and Saturday
GREELEY, Colo. – Northern Colorado wrestling continues its preparation for the Big 12 Championships with a pair of road duals. The Bears head to the Dakotas to face Big 12 foes North Dakota State and South Dakota State. UNC faces SDSU on Friday at 6 pm and NDSU on Sunday at 1 pm.

- Northern Colorado started strong against Wyoming winning the first three duals before falling to the Cowboys 21-15.
- Dyson Kunz picked up his first dual win by pinning Josh Kyle of Wyoming at 3:41.
- Jace Koelzer made it two straight duals with a win defeating Darrick Stacey by decision 5-1
- Andrew Alirez improved to 16-2 on the year with a 6-3 decision over Darren Green.
- UNC is facing SDSU for the first time in a dual since 2017 and NDSU since 2020.
- Andrew Alirez and Alan Clothier continue to be ranked for the Bears. Alirez is as high as No. 5 by FloWrestling. Meanwhile Clothier is No. 25 in Intermat's rankings.

Northern Colorado closes out its dual schedule with a trip down I25 next Sunday. The Bears will face Air Force at 1 pm on Sunday, February 20.
