11/5/2022 8:59:00 PM | Women's Volleyball
Avenging its most recent loss, Northern Colorado (15-8, 9-3 Big Sky) finished Northern Arizona in straight sets (25-18, 25-19, 26-24) inside the Bank of Colorado Arena on Saturday.
Since Northern Arizona (3-16, 2-10 Big Sky) stunned the bears 3-2 in Flagstaff on October 8, UNC has gone on a tear with five sweeps in its last seven wins. The result moves UNC into a tie for first place in the Big Sky standings along with Weber State and Portland State as all three teams enter the final two weeks of the regular season with 9-3 conference marks.
Leading the way for the UNC offence, Rachel Hickman, Makenzie Harris, and Kailey Jo Ince all reached double figures in kills with Hickman leading the way with 13 terminations.
Syd Cole, already the Big Sky leader with 11.23 assists per set entering the match, upped her average yet again with a 45-assist outburst. Michaela Boon, the league's most recent Defensive Player of the Week, nabbed a match-high 15 digs.
In addition, the Bears improved to 9-2 on the season while playing at home. UNC will close out its home slate next weekend with matches against Idaho State (Nov. 10) and Weber State (Nov. 12). Both matches are set for 6 p.m. starts.
