Bears score early, late in PSU setback

Northern Colorado (2-7, 1-5 Big Sky) received big plays by Zinicola and Elijah Anderson-Taylor to generate the early lead. Scoring on an end around early in the 1st quarter, Zinicola took a shovel pass, broke a tackle and zipped down the sideline for a 67-yard score.
Minutes later, Anderson-Taylor gave the Bears the ball back with his fourth forced fumble of the season. UNC capitalized on a 9-play drive capped by a 1-yard touchdown rush by Elijah Dotson.
Portland State, however, scored four unanswered touchdowns to take the lead heading into halftime.
Capping UNC's scoring output, Dotson registered his second touchdown of the day and ninth overall this season, on a 3-yard score in the 4th quarter.
Dotson totaled 176 in all-purpose yards with 105 on the ground via 20 carries and 75 more yards following five receptions.
Zinicola notched a career high of 11 catches for 119 yards.
Anderson-Taylor went on to force a second fumble in the game in the and finished with nine tackles, including two for loss.
The Bears return to Colorado next week for their final home game of the season. UNC will host Northern Arizona on Nov. 12 with a 12 p.m. kickoff at Nottingham Field.
