Boon, Ince sweep Big Sky Weekly Honors

FARMINGTON, Utah—After completing a 2-0 week to move into sole possession of first place in the conference standings, Northern Colorado's Michaela Boon and Kailey Jo Ince were named as Big Sky Athletes of the Week on Monday.
Collecting her second straight Defensive Athlete of the Week award, Boon averaged 5.00 digs per set in UNC's two wins this weekend to once again up her season average. Boon now averages 3.77 digs per set in conference matches to rank No. 3 in the league. Boon reached for a match-high 34 digs in the five-set match against Weber State and helped UNC outdig the Wildcats 99-83 in the battle of the top teams in the league. Boon added 11 assists, an ace and was even credited with a kill over the weekend.
Ince, a two-time first team All-Big Sky selection, led the Bears with 29 kills in the two contests last weekend to help the team extend its winning streak to nine matches. Ince hit for a team-high 23 kills (.353) in the five-setter against Weber State and added 17 digs against the Wildcats for her 10th 'double-double' of the season. Ince is No. 2 in the Big Sky with 3.51 kills per set.
After Ince's award, the Bears have now received the Big Sky's Offensive Athlete of the Week honor five times in 11 opportunities.
UNC closes out the regular season next week with road matches at Eastern Washington on Nov. 18 and Idaho on Nov. 19. Both matches are set for 7 p.m. MT starts.
