By: UNC picks up wins in six of first seven matches

BINGHAMTON, N.Y.--Northern Colorado wrestling won six of the first seven matches en route to a 22-16 road dual victory over Binghamton University on Saturday.

Starting at 125, UNC scored a pair of tech falls, picked up a win over a ranked wrestler, and the only loss came in overtime during their hot start to take a 22-3 dual lead. UNC has now started the season with at least a 2-0 record in duals in each of the last three season.

HIGH POINTS

The Bears picked up wins at 125, 133, 141, 157, 165 and 174.
Andrew Alirez scored a tech fall at the 6:06 mark to gave the Bears an 11-0 lead.
Following the Bears lone loss in the first seven matches, Vinny Zerban scored a tech fall at 6:36.
Andrew Berreyesa scored a 6-2 decision on the strength of two reversals over No. 26 Brevin Cassella at 174.

COACH NICKERSON's OBSERVATIONS
"I thought we wrestled really well. A few matches could have swung the other way but we gutted them out and got the road win. I feel good heading into tomorrow's Bearcat Open."

UP NEXT
The Bears will remain in Binghamton to compete in the Jonathan Kaloust Bearcat Open tomorrow, Saturday, November 13. UNC's next dual is a tri-meet in Morgantown, W.V. on Sunday, November 20 when they take on Glenville State, host West Virginia in the first Big 12 match of the year and Edinboro.

UNC's first home dual is a tri-meet on Sunday, December 20. The Bears host Northeastern Junior College at 1 p.m., Northwest Kansas Technical College at 2:30 p.m. and New Mexico Highlands at 4 p.m. Season tickets for all seven home dual dates are on sale now for just $60.
