10/2/2022 3:54:00 PM | Women's Soccer
GREELEY, Colo.- UNC Soccer put up a commendable effort, but was unable to bring down the Idaho Vandals on Sunday afternoon at Jackson Stadium, falling 1-0.
Â
The game also doubled as Senior Day, where nine graduating seniors, Maddie Duren, Samantha Blanchard, Mckenna Wilson, Haley O'Nan, Kalen Niedling, Carly Fetters, Hailey Collier, Britney Donais, and Laurel Hagen, were recognized for their contributions to the program before the game.
Â
The first half of the match did not bring much action, as both teams moved up and down the pitch looking to get on the board. Both teams recorded seven shots in the half, with goalie Kaya Lindberg earning a save for the Bears.
Â
However, at the 22-minute mark, Idaho was able to put one away, putting UNC at a 1-0 deficit going into the half.
Â
Northern Colorado continued to work to create chances for themselves in the second half, outshooting the Vandals, 8-7, and leading in corners, 5-2. Maddie Duren led the Bears with three shots on the day.
Â
Despite some added pressure in the last 45 minutes of regulation and forcing three saves, the Bears were unable to end the Vandals' ten-game shutout streak, with the contest ending 1-0 in favor of the visiting team.
