GREELEY, Colo.—After leading for most of the first half against the reigning national runner-ups, Northern Colorado fell 37-14 to No. 4-ranked Montana State on Saturday.

Northern Colorado (2-5, 1-3 Big Sky) received first-half touchdowns from Elijah Dotson and Noah Ford to go up 14-3 in the 2nd quarter. Dotson's scamper, his seventh touchdown of the year, went for a season-high 58 yards while Ford's soaring leap in the end zone came from 9 yards out via a Dylan McCaffrey toss.

Scoring just before the half, Montana State (6-1, 4-0 Big Sky) secured its first lead of the game on a 16-yard pass from Tommy Mellott to R.J. Fitzgerald with 1:16 left until the break.

The score was enough for the win as the Bobcats held UNC scoreless in the second half despite the Bears generating 394 of total offense.

The Bears will return to action next week when they host UC Davis. Kickoff against the Aggies is set for 1:02 p.m. at Nottingham Field.

UNC NOTES

The Bears faced a No. 4-ranked opponent in back-to-back weeks after facing No. 4 Sacramento State on Oct. 8
With 101 yards on the ground, Dotson cleared the 100-yard barrier for the second time this season
Zain Zinicola caught a career-high 10 passes on 11 targets for 77 yards.
McCaffrey's 50 attempts were his most as a Bear, his previous high was 42 against Colorado in 2021. His 278 yards is also a career best as a Bear, surpassing his 264 yards against Idaho this season.
Elijah Anderson-Taylor had a five-game streak of 10 or more tackles snapped but the redshirt sophomore had seven stops, a quarterback hurry, and a blocked kick on an extra point
In the 3rd quarter, Uryan Hudson picked off MSU quarterback Sean Chambers in the end zone for his first pick of the season
