Northern Colorado Cross Country heads to Nebraska
GREELEY, Colo. – Two weeks after starting the 2021 season, Northern Colorado Cross Country returns to the course with the Greeno/Drisken Invitational hosted by Nebraska. The young Bears got some valuable experience at the Wyoming Invitational and will now have its full squad competing this weekend.
"We're very excited to be at full strength on both sides this week. Claudine, Melodie and Chloe will be in the lineup for the women in Nebraska. Claudine and Melodie are veterans, they should provide the leadership that we need as a team to elevate our performance," said Director of Cross Country and Track & Field Wayne Angel. "Our goal is to step it up a notch or two after our performances at Wyoming two weeks ago. We are a young team learning how to race, I am confident that we will improve as a team with each competition."
The large field includes some of the top teams including Nebraska, Iowa, Air Force, Creighton, Wichita State and South Dakota.
"We will be competing in a large field with over 20 teams," Angel added. "It will be more physical and can mess with your mind if you allow it to. In a competition of this magnitude, tactics will play a major role in the final results."
