UTRGV takes final game of the series over Bears

A Garrett Fisher walk followed by a Sam Leach single had the Bears' offense asking questions right from the get-go. UTRGV fought off the initial threat, though, stranding two UNC runners.
The home side went to work at the dish themselves in the opening frame. Six runs on four hits and an error left a wide gap for Northern Colorado to close.
Back-to-back singles from Ben McKay and Jonny Graham kicked off an exciting third inning for UNC. Both Hayden Heinze and Garrett Fisher were able to dial up an RBI to get the Bears on the board.
The Bears loaded the bases with no one out in the top of the fifth inning looking to get back in the ballgame. Unfortunately for the UNC faithful, the Bears were unable to push a run across.Top 2 | Garrett Fisher keeps the wheel turning!

Just as Northern Colorado thought it might've begun to apply some pressure on the Vaqueros, UTRGV struck for nine runs in the bottom of the fifth, capitalizing on a couple of walks and three timely hits.
Suddenly, trialing 15-2, UNC needed to find some offense to extend the game past the eighth inning.
Despite another bright performance from freshman Dylan Day who pitched 1.2 innings with four strikeouts while just surrendering one hit, the Bears couldn't find anything at the plate and headed home with the loss, 15-2.

- Garrett Fisher recorded his 19th RBI of the season.
- Logan Chase pitched 2.2 solid innings, grabbing a strikeout and giving up just one hit.
- Dylan Day proved to be the best reliever for UNC on Sunday, pitching 1.2 innings, surrendering just one hit and striking out four.
- Sam Leach notched his ninth multi-hit game of the season.
What's Ahead
The Bears head toward a crucially important series against Dixie State next weekend. The first of the four-game series begins on Thursday, May 20 at 6 p.m. MT.
