Hemauer advances to Big 12 finals

Seven Bears advance to Sunday's action
TULSA, Okla. – Jackson Hemauer came to Tulsa to win a title. He has the chance at that Sunday afternoon after picking up a pair of wins and punching his ticket to the NCAA Championships on Saturday at the Big 12 Championships.
Hemauer aims to become the first to win a title. He picked off the No. 2 and 3 seed on his way to the finals. In his first match of the day, he defeated No. 3 Dustin Plott of Oklahoma State by decision 5-2.
Hemauer's semifinal victory came against second-seed Hayden Hastings of Wyoming. A late takedown in the first period gave him a 3-2 lead and he held onto it ending up with the 4-3 win. He will face top seed Demrtuis Romero of Utah Valley in the championship match.
Northern Colorado had two other wrestlers make it to the semifinals in Mosha Schwartz (133) and Alan Clothier (184).
Third-seeded Schwartz defeated Haiden Drury of Fresno State by decision 7-2 and then Jared Van Vleet of Air Force, 14-7 to reach the semis. He drew a tough match in the semifinals with top seed Daton Fix of Oklahoma State. Schwartz will face Drury again in the consolation semis.
Clothier squeaked out a 3-2 decision over fifth seed Sam Colbary of Iowa State to make the semis. He fell to top seed Parker Keckeisen of Northern Iowa 7-2. Clothier will face No. 7 seed Darrien Roberts of Oklahoma in the consolation semis.
Five other Bears will continue to wrestle tomorrow in Jace Koelzer (125), Chris Sandoval (141), Jordan Robison (165), Jacob Seely (197) and Dalton Robertson (HWT).
Robison and Roberts went 2-2 on the day. Robison had a tech fall in his first match of the day defeating Beau Colombini of Fresno State 17-0 (4:17) and also defeated fifth seed Isaac Judge of Iowa State by decision 4-2.
Roberts moved onto the heavyweight quarterfinals with an 11-2 major decision over sixth seed Wyatt Hendrickson. He recorded the lone fall of the day for UNC when he pinned Randy Gonzalez of Fresno State at 2:07.
What's Ahead
The consultation bracket will close out on Sunday morning starting at 9 am. The finals are set for 4 pm and will air on ESPN2.
