Men's basketball closes regular season in Ogden

UNC men's basketball faces Weber State Thursday and Saturday
GREELEY, Colo. – Northern Colorado men's basketball got the monkey on their back last year, finally picking up a win in Ogden over Weber State. Now the Bears look to make it a habit with their final two games of the regular season against the Wildcats. UNC and WSU will face each other March 4 and 6 inside Dee Event Center.
Opening Tip
- Northern Colorado split its series with Portland State, winning game one on a Matt Johnson II game-winner 66-64 in the final seconds.
- Kur Jockuch ended up with three-straight double-doubles last week averaging 11.7 points and 12.7 rebounds. He grabbed a career-best 15 rebounds in Thursday's win.
- Matt Johnson II played well as the team's main ball handler against the consistent press of Portland State. He averaged 12.0 points a game while dishing out 4.5 assists
- Daylen Kountz averaged 21.0 points against the Vikings, leading the Bears in scoring both games with 23 and 19 points. He made six three-pointers in the two games.
- Northern Colorado won its first-ever game in Ogden last year 65-64.
- Weber State enters this week on a five-game win streak. The Wildcats swept Sacramento State on the road last week.
- WSU is a perfect 10-0 at home this year.
Scouting the Wildcats
Head coach Randy Rahe has the Wildcats running one of the best offenses in the Big Sky this year. Overall, they rank second in the nation and seventh overall with 83.1 points per game. In conference play only, WSU is scoring 81.9 ppg to rank second behind Eastern Washington.
The three-headed monster of Isiah Brown (18.0), Zahir Porter (12.8) and Seikou Sisoho Jawara (12.2) lead the high-powered Weber State offense.
Depending on other results this week, WSU has a chance to claim the Big Sky regular season title and top seed in next week's tournament.

Three team are vying for the Big Sky regular season title going into the final week of play in Eastern Washington, Southern Utah and Weber State.
UNC has an outside shot at a first round bye, but looking like they will be either the six, seven or eight seed in next week's tournament.
What's Ahead
It is off to Boise for the Bears. The 2021 Big Sky Tournament starts Wednesday, March 10 and a champion will be crowned on Saturday, March 13.
