Wrestling sends four to NCAA Championships

Mosha Schwartz, Andrew Alirez, Jackson Hemauer, and Alan Clothier
GREELEY, Colo. – It's bracket season! Get those pen and papers ready because the 2021 NCAA Championship bracket were unveiled on Wednesday. Northern Colorado will be sending four wrestlers to the championships in Mosha Schwartz (133 lbs), Andrew Alirez (149 lbs), Jackson Hemauer (174 lbs) and Alan Clothier (184 lbs).
Schwartz, Hemauer and Clothier each punched their ticket through their performance at last weekend's Big 12 championships, while Alirez earned an at-large bid.
Hemauer, who finished second at Big 12s last week, earned the highest seed of all the Bears at No. 13. He will face Trenton Munoz of Arizona in the first round.
Schwartz and Clothier both claimed fourth place at the Big 12 Championships for their weight class and are the No. 15 and 18 seeds in the NCAA Championship, respectively. Schwartz drew Kyle Burwick of Wisconsin for his first round match. Meanwhile, Clothier faces Layne Malczewski of Michigan State.
Finally, Andrew Alirez will wrestle in the pigtail match of the 149 bracket. He will face No. 33 seed Greg Gaxiola of Hofstra. The winner advances to the round of 32 to face top-seed Sam Sasso of Ohio State.
The NCAA Championships will take place in St. Louis over March 18-20.
