Wrestling dominates at Air Force Round Robins

UNC wrestling won 26 of its 37 matches Saturday
COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – Northern Colorado wrestling turned in a big-time performance in their final regular season event of the year at the USAFA Round Robins. The Bears went 26-11 in their matches against Air Force and Utah Valley.
UNC had eight falls, five tech falls and five major decisions during Saturday's action.
Seven Bears finished the day with at least two wins and no losses, led by Chris Sandoval and his 4-0 day. His first two wins came by decision over Utah Valley's James Emmer (10-3) and Air Force's Bradley Bitting (6-0). He ended his day with a fall at 1:55 against Nick Krug of Air Force and a 16-0 tech fall of Utah Valley's Samuel Edelblute.
Only one other Bear had more than two wins in Jacob Seely. He went 3-0 at the Air Force Academy with a fall and two tech falls. His fall came against Garrett Henigin of the Air Force at 2:18. Seely's two tech falls were by the scores of 17-0 and 17-1 against Casey Jumps and Cole Forrester, respectively, from Air Force.
Two of Northern Colorado's six other falls came from a pair of wrestlers returning from injury in Andrew Alirez and Dalton Robertson. Alirez pinned James Emmer of Utah Valley in 2:16 while Robertson took down another Wolverine in Payson Anderton in 1:40. The pins by Alirez and Robertson were their only action of the day.
The fastest pin of the day belonged to Damen Pape. The Hastings, Nebraska native didn't even take a minute to pin Noah Blake of Air Force, ending his match in 50 seconds.
Nick Knutson (4:54), Brody Lamb (2:55) and Johnny Blankenship (6:43) were the three other Bears to earn a fall.
