Men's Hoops Looks to Stay Hot Against South Dakota

UNC closes its homestand against South Dakota Tuesday
GREELEY, Colo. - Coming off two exciting Big Sky wins over the weekend, Northern Colorado men's basketball hosts South Dakota on Tuesday night. The Bears welcome the old NCC foe at 6 pm.Â
Opening Tip
- Northern Colorado went 2-0 on their Big Sky opening weekend by defending home court against Montana and Montana State.Â
- Daylen Kountz had the game-winning assist and block against Montana Saturday night. The senior found Kur Jongkuch for a thunderous dunk to put the Bears up one with 25 seconds left. He went on to record the game-winning block inside five seconds. Kountz led the team with 18 points.
- Kur Jongkuch recorded his fifth double-double of the season with 13 points and 10 rebounds. He added in two assists and a block.Â
- Matt Johnson II sank a pair of clutch free throws with 3.4 seconds left for his 13th and 14th points of the game. He added in four assists and six rebounds in the win.Â
- Bodie Hume scored 16 points in the win over the Griz connecting on two shots behind the arc.
- Northern Colorado extended its streak to five straight games with 10-plus assists. They had 14 on Saturday night
- UNC outrebounded Montana 35-24.Â
- The Bears had their best shooting performance of the year on Saturday going 53.3% from the field.
- Northern Colorado ranked 124th in the initial net rankings released on Monday. The second-best in the Big Sky.
- South Dakota ended a two-game losing streak with a 93-37 win over Waldorf on Friday.
