Men's Basketball Ready to Gold Rush into Big Sky Play

UNC men's basketball starts Big Sky Play against Montana State
GREELEY, Colo. – It's a Gold Rush to open the Big Sky season for UNC Men's Basketball! Pack the Bank and wear your gold for a discounted ticket at the door for Thursday night's game against Montana State at 6 pm. The game marks the conference opener for both teams.
Opening Tip
- Bodie Hume put on a three-point clinic against Colorado State scoring 30 points on 9-of-14 shooting behind the arc. The 30 points matched a career-high and the nine made threes were a career-best.
- Daylen Kountz continues his scoring spree with 19 against CSU. He made four threes in the game and had a career-best five assists.
- Kur Jongkuch used his passing ability to make an impact for the Bears last Saturday with a career-high five assists. He added in nine rebounds to lead the Bears.
- Dru Kuxhausen was one of three Bears to make four-plus threes last Saturday. He was 4-for-8 for 12 points off the bench.
- Northern Colorado made a season-high 18 threes against CSU. The Bears shot 48.6% behind the arc.
- Montana State enters Thursday on a three-game win streak after winning the Incarnate Word Thanksgiving Tournament.
- The Bobcats competed in the Big Sky Championship game last year falling to Eastern Washington 65-55.
Scouting the Bobcats
Third-year head coach Danny Sprinkle has put Montana State on an upward trajectory ever since he stepped back on campus in Bozeman.
Returning a veteran crew from last year the Bobcats are expected to compete for the Big Sky title in 2021-22. Forward Jubrile Belo leads that group of veterans averaging 14.7 points and 6.9 rebounds per game. He was a preseason All-Big Sky selection.
MSU enters Big Sky play on a three-game win streak having swept the Incarnate Word Thanksgiving Tournament.
What's Ahead
UNC closes the weekend by hosting the Griz of Montana at 6 pm on Saturday. UM opens Big Sky play on Thursday at Sacramento State.
