Transfer Zoe Campbell has been an impact player for head coach Kristen Mattio. Averaging 1.75 blocks per contest, Campbell is the best shot-blocker in the conference and No. 78 in the nation.
While Jaiden Galloway didn't sink any three's against San Francisco, the senior from Aurora, Colorado still found a way to make an impact. Her four assists and three steals, both career highs.
UTEP transfer Sabine Lipe turned in her best performance in the Blue and Gold against the Dons. Going 2-2 from downtown, Lipe secured a season-high six points.
Hannah Simental has hit at least one three-pointer in each of the four games to open the season. Her longest such streak last season was five.
Last Time Out
Kurstyn Harden matched her career-high with 11 points against San Francisco as the Bears were unable to chase down the Dons. Northern Colorado also outrebounded its opponent for the fourth straight game.
Scouting the Bulldogs
Head coach Carley Kuhns has scheduled a tough non-conference slate for the Bulldogs this season. Already with games against Iowa and Colorado, Samford has mixed in matchups with Jacksonville State and Southern Miss. The Bulldog's only win thus far has come at home against Montevallo.
In the early parts of 2021, Samford has lived and died by the three-point shot. At 34.6 percent, the Bulldogs rank No. 1 in the SoCon and 86th in the nation. They are also first in the conference in made threes (107) and made three-pointers per game.
Defensively, the Bulldogs have generated a mountain of steals this fall. With 44 on the season, Samford is second in the SoCon and 62nd in the nation.
At the heart of its success is junior guard Andrea Cournoyer. The Merryville, Louisiana native is top-100 in the country in field goals made (29), final points (89), points per game (17.8), field goal percentage (48.5) and steals (15).
History against Samford
Northern Colorado and Samford have never gone toe-to-toe before. While Friday represents the first official matchup between the schools, it's the third time UNC has faced a member of the SoCon. The Bears have previously beaten Chattanooga twice.
What's Ahead?
Northern Colorado heads out on the road for a four-game set, including two Big Sky matchups with Montana State and Montana before returning to Greeley on December 13 against Oklahoma Panhandle. Tickets can be purchased at UNCBears.com/Tickets.
