UNC men's basketball falls in the final minute to San Jose State
SAN JOSE, Calif. – Tuesday night was another close contest for Northern Colorado Men's Basketball as San Jose State squeaked past the Bears 75-74.
SJSU scored a basket in the final five seconds to take the one-point lead after Daylen Kountz hit two high-pressure free throws to put the Bears up 74-73 with 13.3 left. Kountz had a look at a running three-pointer as the clock expired that missed.
Kountz led UNC with his fifth 20-plus point game of the season scoring a season-high-tying 22 points.
Northern Colorado led by as much as 10 in the game going on a 13-3 run for over four minutes in the first half. During the run, UNC made three shots from behind the arc. Two from Dru Kuxhausen and one from Dalton Knecht.
UNC entered the half up by four as five Bears had five-plus points. Ball movement was key with nine assists in the half.
It was a whole lot of offense in the second half as the teams combined to shoot 50.0% from the field.
San Jose State tied the game with a 10-3 run near the midway point of the second half and the game was played within one possession the rest of the game.

- Zach Bloch scored his first career points with a pair of free throws late in the first half.
- Dalton Knecht recorded a career-best five assists. He also scored eight points and grabbed five rebounds.
- Kur Jongkuch recorded his fourth double-double of the season with 14 points and 14 rebounds. The 14 rebounds are a season-high and one-off his career-best.
- Bodie Hume and Matt Johnson II each finished the game with 11 points. Hume also grabbed seven rebounds while Johnson II dished out five assists.
- The Bears recorded 15 assists on the 29 made shots.
- All seven Bears that saw the floor on Tuesday night scored.
- UNC scored 15 second chance points on 12 offensive rebounds.
