Northern Colorado wrestling fell 25-11 to WVU
MORGANTOWN, W.V. – No. 17 Northern Colorado wrestling returned to the mat for its first dual meet in three weeks traveling to West Virginia for a Big 12 dual. The Bears, wrestling without three ranked wrestlers due to injury, got out to a quick start with back-to-back major decisions, but WVU rattled off five straight wins to defeat UNC 25-11.
No. 23 Jackson Hemauer improved to 4-0 in the Blue & Gold with an 11-2 major decision over Scott Joll of WVU to open the dual and also had a 13-4 major decision over Casey Recrosio in an extra match following the dual. Hemauer recorded the Bears lone four-point near fall of the day against Joll.
Hemauer's strong start out of the gates was followed up by another major decision, this one from No. 23 Alan Clothier, He defeated Jackson Mooau 10-2 with three takedowns, an escape, two-point near fall and riding time. Clothier has won his last three matches by major decision.
WVU went on a run of five straight match wins over UNC to take control of it after the Bears opened in up 8-0.
Nathan Moore was the only other to win a match in the dual with a 4-3 decision over Brayden Roberts. A late escape was the difference in the match.
Theorius Robison went 1-1 on the day with a 6-3 decision in an extra match.
